Abstract

|
Borrelia burgdorferi was first isolated in 1982 from Ixodes spp. and in 1983 from the patient of Lyme disease in North Amrica by Burgdorferi. Lyme disease is a public health problem throughout most of North America and Europe mass. Although
predominantly associated with deer of vertebrate, it is now being recognized as a particular hazard to rodents.
As an attempt to find a serological evidence Lyme disease, this study was initiated to determine the prevalence of antibodies to B. burgdorferi among Apodemus agrarius throughout the Kyongkido, Kangwondo and Chungcheongnamdo aresas in Korea.
The indirect immunofluorescent IgG antibodies against B. burgdorferi were showed antibody titer of ¡Ã16 in 6 of the sera from 76 A. agrarius. All of the srea showed antibody titer of ¡Â8 aganist Leptospira interogans, 4 against Rickettsia
tsutsugamushi
were showd antibody titer¡Ã16.
Majority of the sera ¡Ã16 fo B. burgdorferi were showed in Yeonchon at April. Most of the sera with titers of ¡Â8 showed antibody titer of ¡Â8 against L. interrogans. The sera with antobody titer of¡Ã16 against B. burgdorferi showed titers of ¡Â8
against R. tsutsugamushi. The significant of A. agraius serum titer was undeterminable.
